John P. Schuster
John P. Schuster is an early pioneer for engaged work cultures of all kinds and open-book management. In 1989 he took his CEO peer learning group to study open book cultures as they were then emerging. He is a leadership coach and mentor, a keynote speaker, and connects softer people skills with hard business results. He was the first Vistage Chair in Kansas City and Cincinnati and has been a resource to Vistage groups for many years on three continents. He teaches and leads workshops on leadership, coaching skills for managers and how to build high-performance cultures that last.
His firm collaborated with INC. magazine to promote growth-oriented, business-savvy companies. Out of this work, John and his colleagues built a business simulation tool, Profit & Cash®, that 500 thousand people have used at GE, Harley Davidson, multiple small and mid-sized companies and MBA programs – to sample a few clients.
John has a passion: helping leaders build the necessary social capital within their enterprises so they can build a better world on behalf of communities, customers and shareholders. He teaches coaching skills at Columbia University and the Hudson Institute of Coaching. He has led engagements and in several countries and industry sectors. He has also authored three books, and co-authored two on open-book management for John Wiley, The Power of Open Book Management and the Open-book Management Field Book.
