“We were building that company… working with a diverse team… We worked on culture, obviously, and then we really worked on the financial literacy, so that they could manage properly. We did that by using the Sprint track and developing SMART goals, and did a lot of Sprints… Implemented some of the goal setting with our sales team and… it helps with the projections and implementing accountability. We are able to see increased motivation and excitement. So I think the communication and education is another big piece of it.
The communication platform was huge. In the convenience store industry, you’ve got managers who have been there a long time, and you’ve got managers that just came on board. And you’ve got some that are well educated, and some that you need to educate. Being able to take a diverse team and get them all motivated for the same goal, I think that was a huge key win from GRITT. And helping them understand the importance of, in our case it was daily sales and labor, but at the end of the day, it’s just financial literacy. You know? Helping them learn the importance of it. It doesn’t matter if that’s on the retail side or on the wholesale side.”
“There’s so many cylinders to make this operation run and it’s hard to understand all of those cylinders and all of those departments, and the steps and processes in place in order to successfully execute everything… There’s so many things that can happen along the way that, for our sales team, you’re out on the road and you just expect everything to run smoothly without wanting any hiccups. And they were able to get a little bit more information that… It takes all of these other steps to fall into place or be performed perfectly for things to work out in the end. And so you have to be a little bit more understanding… Have a little compassion and grace.
It’s really been fun to see some of them really embrace their numbers. With the industry, everything is always changing, and so you have to adapt. I think one of the biggest things that I’ve noticed here… there are a lot of uncontrollable factors. You’ve got to really focus on the controllable ones. So take control of what you can and, if you need to reset and refocus, then that’s what you do. And you adapt to what gets thrown out there. So seeing them embrace those numbers and adapting, I think that has been enriching to see.
They just bought in and I think that was probably one of the biggest accomplishments.”
“To see some of the sales to labor percentage drop over 15%, I mean, it was over half, because they understood it and they wanted to succeed.”
“Enthusiasm, and then committed and passionate, that’s what I think of with GRITT and the team. When you partner with GRITT… I think that’s just so important to understand that with the coaching and the tools and resources that it’s such a sense of accomplishment, and it’s your platform for being successful. To have the opportunity to benefit in real life experiences with these coaches who are highly successful, it’s a privilege.
You sit there and ponder and you wonder, how can you implement that? Into your own team, your own business and your own personal life. Working with GRITT, you’re able to. I’m grateful for all the resources that I was given to be able to communicate with my team and for who I work with now, and to continue using those skills professionally and personally.”
